The program is built on a decentralized, low-friction logistics model that prioritizes community involvement and scientific upcycling.
Accessible Drop-Off Nodes: To make participation effortless for the consumer, the program leverages existing community infrastructure. Scrap can be deposited at designated neighbourhood waste banks or sent back through local postal service partnerships.
Community-Led Sorting: Once collected, the materials are channeled to local Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These community teams of approximately 10 to 15 members are trained in meticulous sorting, dismantling, and initial processing.
Scientific Upcycling: Rather than basic downcycling, the sorted scrap is integrated back into the supply chain for scientific upcycling. It serves as feedstock for new, sustainable product designs.

THE REALITY
Understanding the scale of waste generation helps us take action. Here's the current state of waste management in India.
India generates an estimated 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of municipal solid waste per day, reaching 55 million tonnes annually.
Each person generates 0.3 to 0.45 kg of waste daily, with numbers increasing in urban areas.
A significant portion is organic waste, followed by plastics (10-15%), paper (5-10%), and glass/metals.
While most waste is collected, a considerable portion is still openly dumped or improperly disposed.
Only 30-40% of collected waste is treated. The majority ends up in landfills or dumpsites.
If current trends continue, waste generation is projected to reach 450 million tonnes by 2050.
